back in atlanta airport after my 8 hr flight from HI- i must say there is a temp diff already and i am not liking it- my last day on the big island was very refreshing- i went to waipio valley to hike and then on to billy's house to hang out. got to thhe valley and the trails were closed- i did have a spectacular view of the valley as i read for a few hours- and got some thinking done. the next day i headed back to maui- kassi had to work so i cruised with jay and as we rode around i was taking in my last sights of hawaii. costco, k mart and the mall were among them. that night we went and had some thai food @ this place we ate before- it is the best thai i have ever had- the squid salad made my taste buds explode with each bite. we made it an early night- sleeping on the sofa i was awaken with a nice warm wet tongue in the ear from the limp eared hoku- nothing like a big ole "wake up, its time to play" from such a sweet dog. she was way calmer this time around and i forgot she was there even a few times. the last few days were pretty uneventful but i had the urge to go home, sleep in my bed, take a shower and have some clothes that are not getting the musky funk from being in a bag for 3 weeks- after taking a shower i discover that i all the shirts i had looked like they were all wrinkled and under the bed for 2 weeks or had the smell- a quick wipe down with a fabric softener and i am good to go - after rocking some guitar hero for a hr or so it was time to head- to the other side of the island where the amex travel agent flew me out of the smallest airport. i take the dash 8 then jump on a 767- full flight they say- took a while to board but once i got on i was next to a girl in the army- she is crossin her legs- has all kinds of room and i am crammed in the seat trying to stay on my side- i felt like lifting the arm rest and having her lay on me so i could have some room- all i wanted was to be able to sleep for the hrs- i started to read and then the flight attendant comes by and asks these guys if they want to change with this couple b/c they have cats- 1st thing that crossed my mind is that there is some sort of litter box in that cage- next thing was who the fuck flys with cats- why not check em like dogs? what make that fur ball so special? so as she is talking to them she points out a free open row- i don't think the guys caught on- so i ask them what they are going to do- sort of ignoring what they are saying b/c i had my eye on the prize- the open row to myself- i could lay out, cross my legs and have plenty of room. so the plane reaches 10,000 feet and the buzzer goes off for the electronics- so i get up grab my shit and haul ass around the plane to the open row- they stop me and say the plane is still ascending and that i need to sit- they had not turned off th fasten seat best sign- i walk swiftly to th seats and sit- then comes along this old flight attendant telling me the situation with the cats and how they want to sit together blah blah blah- i thought to myself- "what is more important, a 6'5 customer hat has been flying delta for more then 10years or some fur all feline that is gonna make the plane smell like shit- if you don't have room for your cat then oh well- she said she was going to be back and that i may have to move- i find in the seat 4 pillows and 2 blankets- i made a real score here- i took all the pillows and lined every part of my body against he wall so i did not get cold- in the mean time i pass out in case they try and move me- 3 hrs later i wake up and am in a daze- i was very out it from the muscle relaxer and i was kind of "where am i" - i soon look for some pillows and i see that 2 are gone- they slipped down and were between th seat and the side of the plan- i go to take it and the guy behind me took one- he had it supporting his knee- i tried to take it and it woke him up- i just acted like i did not do anything- i passed back out to be woken up by the cabin lights- i slept the rest of the 5 hrs and was in atl when i awoke- it was a nice nap and i am hopefully going to be back on EST as soon as possible- so here i sit waiting for the flight to savannah- i will have to wait an hr or so after i get in b/c my mom had to get her nails done- i mean wtf-- she knew i was coming in and she had to have this done today? what is that- thank the lord i was able to sell her gifts i got her to a guy in the bathroom- b/c after a stunt like that i am not having it.
the trip as a whole was more then i could have expected- the "soul building" def happened, i saw some amazing things, met some wonderful people and this is the break that was much needed- i thought about work- well maybe 2 times on the trip- i knew my dad was holding it down just fine- as much as i did not want to leave i was ready to go home- i will be back there very soon- it is my kind of place- where ya cruise and not really worry about what day it is- just that you are alive and kickin it. my personal legend is being fulfilled, i learned many things about myself in many situations- it was many 1sts for me in many ways and even the bad that happened was not bad- it helped me grow as a person- i was very apprehensive about a solo travel before the trip and now i think it is something i will always want to do - to have some sam time- maybe not as long but i def think that it is something everyone should do- i left a sorta scared guy that had no idea what was going to happen to a more wise person that was able to me the best of the worst- go with the wind and learned the soul of the world and to trust my gut- no matter what- it is always right-
i have some more pics and when i run em all through photoshop i will post the link here to see them all- till the next "mini giant adventure" where ever that may be- aloooooooooooooha for now
